Firebird (also called FirebirdSQL) is a relational database management
system that offers the features contained in the ANSI SQL-99 and SQL-2003. RDBMS
is running well on Linux, Windows, as well as on a number of Unix platforms.
Firebird in directed and maintained by the FirebirdSQL Foundation. She is a
derivative of the open source version of Interbase owned Borland. New code
modules added to Firebird and licensed under the Initial Developer's Public
License (IDPL), while the original modules released by Inprise licensed under
the InterBase Public License 1.0. Both the license is a modified version of the
Mozilla Public License 1.1. Apart from the software above, there are many more
software such as dBase, Sybase, Informix, FoxPro, DB2, etc.
